Individual Therapy

At Perfectly Queer Counseling, we offer compassionate and affirming individual therapy sessions designed to support your unique journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery. Individual counseling offers a private, nonjudgmental space where you can explore the full spectrum of your emotions, experiences, and identities. Together, we work to understand your story, build on your strengths, and navigate the challenges that may be impacting your mental, emotional, or spiritual well-being.

What can you talk about in individual therapy?

You can talk about anything that feels important to you. Therapy is a space that centers your voice, your truth, and your needs. Some common topics explored in individual counselling include:

  • Anxiety, panic, or chronic stress

  • Depression, grief, or emotional numbness

  • Gender identity, sexual orientation, or queer identity development

  • Relationship patterns and attachment wounds

  • Family dynamics and intergenerational trauma

  • Navigating transitions (career, identity, health, relocation, etc.)

  • Shame, self-doubt, and imposter syndrome

  • Cultural identity, marginalization, and experiences of oppression

  • Healing from trauma or PTSD

  • Building emotional resilience and boundaries

  • Cultivating self-compassion, authenticity, and joy

We recognize that your healing journey is deeply personal. That’s why our individual therapy sessions are tailored to your pace, your values, and your goals.

What to expect

In our first sessions, we’ll focus on building a foundation of trust and safety. From there, we’ll explore what’s bringing you to therapy, and what you'd like to shift or understand more deeply. You don't need to have everything figured out to begin—we'll figure it out together.

Our therapeutic work is rooted in liberation, anti-racism, and LGBTQIA+ affirming care. We honor all parts of you, including the ones that feel tender, hidden, or still in progress.

"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do."
Brené Brown

You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.
